GOAT Gaming Spotlight: Waifu Tycoon 3 (Fortnite)
Turning Up the Heat in GOAT Gaming with Waifus!
Update November 28, 2024: $GOAT is now $GG.
We heard you guys like waifus, so we’re introducing four of them in our first Fortnite experience on GOAT Gaming in Waifu Tycoon 3!
If you haven’t heard of Fortnite, it’s currently the world’s largest Battle Royale game made by the folks over at Epic Games, and early last year they released something called Unreal Engine for Fortnite (UEFN for short), which has allowed gamers to become developers as they bring their creations into the Fortnite ecosystem. Previously, there was a system called Fortnite Creative that allowed players to do this, but UEFN has given us more tools to get more in-depth.
In just two years, there are thousands of User-Generated Games on Fortnite with millions of players daily. It’s a very exciting and ever-changing ecosystem, and it’s been quite a ride being a part of that.
The Strategic Importance of Fortnite in Our Ecosystem
So - why bring Fortnite maps into the GOAT Gaming ecosystem?
One word: growth.
Since launching in 2017, Fortnite has become the global leader in multiplayer online battle royales, boasting 230 million monthly active users. Needless to say, it’s become crucial for tapping into the Web2 player base and the opportunities for growth it presents cannot be overstated.
The introduction of the Creative tool "UEFN" (Unreal Engine For Fortnite) in 2023 has redefined the User-Generated Content (UGC) landscape, making it crucial for teams to succeed where the players are, especially the next generation of gamers.
Building on Fortnite means we not only engage with a massive and active player base, but also position ourselves to spark the next wave of growth. Revenue from our Fortnite experiences flow directly back into GOAT Gaming, reinforcing our ecosystem.
A Game a Week, Rinse and Repeat.
Our team's capability to ship one map a week highlights our agility and adaptability in a fast-paced consumer market, allowing us to quickly respond to trending narratives and maintain a competitive edge.
We’ve experimented quite a fair amount with the kind of games we’re making on Fortnite. When we first started out we made a Gun Game (much like the ones you find in Call of Duty or Counter-Strike), followed by a game heavily inspired by Subway Surfers, then our first waifu game, Waifu Tycoon.
Since we were new to the Fortnite ecosystem, we really wanted to be experimental to figure out what players wanted to play. We looked at what was trending both in terms of memes and gameplay mechanics that were popular with similar demographics, then we’d spend a week and ship a game. Since the rate at which we made games was so quick, we didn’t have time to be married to our ideas and were instead free to try out weird, wacky new things rather than just doing the same game multiple times with a different theme hoping it would work.
So… Why Waifus?
It’s not really a stretch to say that Web3 natives like waifus, (Azuki, Kiwami, 0n1force, to name a few) but at some point that line between anime-themed anything and waifus kind of blurred.
For us, we found that there was a huge demand specifically for the waifu side of things, which, without going too in-depth, is generally characterised by cute anime girls in any situation. The initial meaning was closer to companionship, or basically referring to anime girls that were “wife” material, but now that term has kind of been generalised to any cute anime girl - and we realised that for many people, that’s what they wanted to see in their games!
What Should Goats Expect from Waifu Tycoon 3?
Enough beating around the bush, let’s dive into the good stuff.
1. Waifus
Since they’re the star of the show, there are four waifus that you can interact with, each with their own personality and model.
Sakura: Sweet, idol-like, and also terrifying
Yuri: Gamer girl next door whose snark is only matched by her gaming ability.
Kim: Professional, beautiful, and knows exactly what she wants.
Luna: Fierce on the outside but a softie on the inside.
2. Friendship Points
The waifus in the game don’t begin already liking you, you’ve gotta work for it! Tycoons in Fortnite are all about amassing resources and upgrading your base, which in this case is your house in Waifu Town. Complete objectives, get gold, upgrade your base and talk to your waifus to keep them happy to accrue more friendship points!
3. Dates Activities
When you have enough friendship points, you can even ask the waifus out on various activities in the map. I won’t spoil the surprise as to what kind of activities, but it’s probably not what you’re thinking! (Fortnite is a T for Teen game, after all!)
Waifu Tycoon 3 & GOAT
We’ve integrated a quest system that will allow you to get rewards on our Road To $GOAT for playing Waifu Tycoon 3 in Fortnite!
It’s simple. Once you’ve downloaded Fortnite, installed it, and entered Waifu Tycoon 3, you just need to claim a plot and find the quest board.
There are a variety of quests to complete, and while you can’t track their progress on the GOAT website, you can track them in-game. Just remember to redeem your code once you’ve completed the quests! You can find a more detailed step-by-step guide on how to complete the quests and redeem them over here. (Link to FAQ)
